3 MINUTES OF YOUR TIME Austin-Star Formed in late 96 from the Talented leftovers of the Purpleohms & The Perfect Word Steve silky cobburn/vocals, Peter Dutton/guitar/vocals, Lee Farrell/Bass, Glen Glenda Williams/drums & Steve Honeywell/guitar Crash landed in the incestious Essex/ East London music scene in a blaze of publicity & expectation London was gagging for something new & it got it, not only is this a band that could play, the songs are universal with indcerdible sound bite lyrics. The 1st London date at the Bull&Gate Kentish town was described by Melody Makers Ruben Rubens as like finding a diamound in a steaming Dog turd. Austin? To escape the media circus that surrounded Groover and get back to basics, they shunned the TV & advertising world & re-emerged in December 98 as Austin Star. A Limited edition CD was released to much critical acclaim. Feb 99 saw live debut at a sell-out Highbury garage. Stars 2000 Austin star were at the height of the powers a new single 7th Heaven stormed to the top of the demo charts where it stayed for the whole of January with a quality of production never heard before NME’S Kitty empire said I shit & pissed myself when I heard this for the 1st time. Camden monarch’s new owners the Barfly refuse to stage any more gigs as the venue was too small to cope with the number of fans turning up. An XFM session where they performed Washington DC Was their last public appearance.
