The
Torch Moths is produced by Guy Rigby, ex Big Field member and
begun in 2001. The Big Field had moderate success in the 90s,
with regular gigs at the Marquee and support slots for The Screaming
Trees and PJ Harvey. But it was time to do something new and
something strange. Time was scarce but the ideas were fresh
and so out of long night-time sessions and early mornings, the
Torch Moths were born. Production influences stretch from The
Flaming Lips to the Waterboys and ideas are inspired by Nick
Cave, Mercury Rev and Jules Verne. The Torch Moths make disturbing
and vibey unworldly-pop with a Bowie twist. The slow strum of
acoustic guitars melts into the buzzing irritation of telephone-vocals
and electronica while you trip your way from cyber-love to Victorian
melancholia. Love it or hate it this is The Torch Moths. Enjoy!
