Sophie Serafino A.Mus.A. is a violinist, singer and songwriter with a unique blend of pop music. At 22 years old, she has studied music and dancing for over twelve years to a professional level. Nick Platers is a producer and dj/mc who along with backing vocalist Tracey Emmanuel and cellist Emily Palethorpe create a unique sound and Sophie's music, although she is classically trained, is a pop combination of breaks, jungle, opera and violin. Sophie has studied music and dancing for over twelve years to a professional level, and continues studies in violin and composition. Born in London, into a family of professional classical musicians Sophie was influenced at an early age, but did not begin to write or perform her own music until 1998. She then completed her first album in February 2001. It includes two opera remakes- Madam Butterfly (Puccini) and Casta Diva (Bellini) as well as her own originals and in February 2003, the album was launched in Sydney independantly. The single 'Carmen' was launched at Winstons Bar, The Stamford Plaza Hotel Double Bay in June 2003- the night aimed at raising money for The Sporting Chance Cancer Foundation, with special guests Raelene Boyle and our ex-cricket captain Mark Taylor in the 7,9,10&SBS television campaign. The night included a charity auction, and Sophie's first month of sales went to the Sporting Chance Cancer Foundation. Sophie and her group launched the latest EP "Give it to Me" at the Metro Theatre Sydney in October, and are in the studio working on a new album and preparing to tour early 2004
