Drift Theory was born out of a shared vision between guitarists Christian Klaus and Leigh Crow, and drummer Anthony Lawrence. Long time friends one and all, music brought us together from an early age. Beginning in High School and moving on in different forms over the years, culminating in what is now known as Drift Theory. From the beginning we knew a huge guitar sound was at the forefront of our minds - nothing was going to be done in half measures, which is reflected in every facet of production, from the live show to the studio and everything in between. But not only did it have to be big, it had to be real. This would be our chance to give the world something uninhibited by current trends. To offset the force of the instrumentation an equally huge vocal sound and sense of melody would be required to give a large sonic scope of light and shade. Enter Stuart Hunter, a talented vocalist with almost a decade of experience playing to audiences 5 nights a week in various bands all across Melbourne. Our bass player was by no means an easy find. Introduced to us by Stuart as what was initially a fill-in position, Troy Groeneweegen was reluctant to leave once he heard the material we were working on and stayed on as a full time member - alleviating the need to bind and gag him and throw him in the back of an unmarked car and the sound he brought with him was nothing short of thunderous. After recording our 4 song EP/demo with producer Nigel Derricks we knew we had something special, and the response from all who've heard it so far, from the public to those in the industry world-wide has been consistent, in that the approach we've taken and the sound we've achieved is unique, powerful and moving. Spurred on by an amazing recording experience we started writing again almost immediately to complete the set list and the sound just grew to enormous proportions, due mainly to the fact that now the focus had shifted over to the live environment. Shows are now being booked hand over fist and interest is building in Drift Theory everywhere. Now the eyes of the music industry all over the world are fixed on Australia and only time will tell where this journey will take us, but one thing is for sure - the world is listening. More Comments On Drift Theory Recording Drift Theory was thoroughly enjoyable. It is not very often you work with a band as committed to a single direction of sound and style. Together with the musical ability and personalities to achieve this goal. Each song has great punch and groove, with precise attention to detail and execution of ideas with instruments and vocals alike. Hooks galore, in the guitar riffs and vocals, it makes for wide appeal. Hooks that you find humming away in your mind days after you have listened to these tracks. A lot of laughs and great energy from all made this recording a huge success, it shows exactly what the band is. Nigel Derricks - Producer/Engineer
