False Pretences came to be in the year 2002 when four secondary school students from Weymouth, Dorset decided to form a band. They began to write rock influenced music and made regular appearances at jam nights in Weymouth. But now after several changes in line-up and a host of new material The False are increasingly popular in these parts and appear in the current formation of: James Baker- frontman, James Lee- lead guitar, Chris Lee- bass guitar and backing vox, Ian Galloway- drums and Nick Lee- rhythm guitar in regular slots around the South West of England. They play a host of original compositions, ranging from the anthemic and slowburn (Fly Now! and The Climax) to the shamelessly naïve rock stompers (Sad to See,No Purchase Necessary, Colder Than Before, etc.) The False are very distinctive as James,the frontman, loves to jump around and get everyone involved. Also, it may not have escaped your attention that three fifths of the band go by the surname of Lee. James and Chris are twins, with older brother, Nick, making up the guitar manning Lee trio. Ian is a slick, inventive drummer and together they make up quite a team! people always have a great time when they see Fasle Pretences play. The raw energy the music creates rubs off well on the music-loving Joe public. False Pretences are a hard working, ambitious band, with aspirations of making it big. They made it into the recording studio to record The False Pretences E.P and are currently planning a second recording in the near future.
