STELLAR are essentially singer/songwriter; Jane Starkey & guitarist/composer/programmer; Mal Eltringham. Jane & Mal met in 1990 while working in the same recording studio in Newcastle. Mal was studio manager & Jane a trainee engineer. They borrowed other musicians & formed “ Medusa & The Gorgons “ playing various gigs in the North East. Former band members included David Brewis of The Kane Gang & Graeme Swaddle, drummer with God’s Ultimate Noise & Sleepy People. Mal’s previous work includes touring with Punishment of Luxury ( signed to United Artists in the 80s ) writing scores for movies & playing with various other bands, currently as guitarist in Strangedays - a Doors tribute band. In 1995 Jane & Mal relocated to Devon & continue to work on a large back catalogue of Jane’s material. Gigs have been rare but, now called Stellar, Jane & Mal have played the last two years at The White Feather Festival in Ashprington. again, borrowing band members. Most recently they enlisted Andy Bullock from Hombres Imposible to play bass. Stellar’s philosophy lies in diversity. Jane’s songs are ecclectic by nature & do not follow any particular style. yet all are led by strong vocal harmony & insistent guitar riffs. Stellar have more than 50 songs in their repertoire & are slowly trying to record them all to at least demo standard. They would welcome support from any company willing to invest in their music & develop their skills further.
